Strange Entities - Part I

This is a real incident experienced by Mohan in the decade of 1960's. He had been to Mani Nageshwar temple, situated on the banks of the Narmada river, at Bhalod in Bharuch district of Gujarat. This is a very ancient temple of Lord Shiva, rumored to have been built by snakes with 'Mani' (gemstone).

Mohan had also been to this temple, to meet the Baba who stayed nearby. Baba, had a small ashram, with just 3 rooms in it, one for himself, one for his 2 disciples, who stayed along with him. The last room was for occasional visitors like Mohan.

The day Mohan reached the temple, he met Baba and his disciples. In the night, he decided to be present for the Mangla Aarti (the first morning prayers to the Deity) which takes place at 4 am. So in the night, when Mohan suddenly heard the bell gong, he got up and ran downstairs, without checking the time.

It was actually 3 am in the night when Mohan came down, it was darkness all around. Realizing, it was perhaps too early for the Aarti, he was about to go back, when he saw a strange light coming out of the temple. Curious, he decided to check out the source of the light. As he went inside the temple, he was shocked!!

On the Shivling, was coiled a large black snake with a huge and dazzling diamond on its head. The glitter of the diamond was the source of the bright light coming out from the temple. Mohan was awestruck by the strange sight, while he felt scared too. As soon as the snake sensed the intruder, it slithered its way out of the temple, into the Narmada river.

All this happened within a short span of few minutes. Mohan was left dumb-struck, not knowing what to think of the sight he just saw. He ran back towards the Ashram, when he saw something stranger. The rest in the next part..stay tuned till then!!
